From your description, this sounds like a common purely visual issue with 'ghost' items on the ground. There's not really much to be done about it as far as I know, other than that re-logging will cause the nonexistent items to no longer appear.

Task advice probably needs a heavy rework beyond just this issue, there are other line-break issues, typoes and nonsensical descriptions present in Tasks.java from a quick glance over it. Holding off on making an issue for this specifcally as such.

Couldn't reproduce when I tried, seems maybe this is account-specific somehow and likely related to a couple similar farming patch-related bugs (such as all crops disappearing, which a few have reported but I've never managed to see myself).
