Legacy launcher discontinued

Post by ryannathans »

Hi all

Just a notice that the legacy launcher has been discontinued, update checks will now fail.

Please use the new launcher, saradomin. You can download it here: https://2009scape.org/site/game_guide/play.html

If you were using the legacy launcher for a specific use case that's not possible with saradomin, please raise it below.

Cheers!

A setting for saradomin (the new launcher) will be added for fractional scaling, in the meantime you can run the new client directly to get the same behavior.

After updating the client via saradomin you run it directly until the option is added: C:\users\you\2009scape\2009scape.jar (or the equivalent on other OS)

some time has passed, what was the reason?

The new client on the login window can take up 40-50% of CPU resources each. Which makes it unplayable for me, for example.

Don't you just set the file as executable and then you open with Java?
no, the launcher isn't executed with java

if you set the setting to auto close the launcher when launching (I think it's the default), the cmd window will disappear

this is because the new client isn't locked at 50fps, it will run at your monitor's refresh rate, e.g. 165hz = 165fps
