I am attempting to play 2009Scape on an old laptop of mine.
It is WIndows 8.
I have the correct version of Java.
When I attempt to launch the Saradomin launcher, I get prompted with this:
'The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-string-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.'
I have downloaded the .dll file, however when I attempt to move/paste it into the Windows\System32 directory it says I need to provide administrative permission, which I agree to, but to no avail. I am then offered a button to 'Try Again' which does not help.
I have went to Properties > Security > Advanced and attempted to modify the System32 folder's permissions, but it refuses to let me edit them for any/all usergroups.
I am the sole Administrator account on this computer.
How can I get around this?

Re: Windows 8 Missing .dll System32 Write Error
this file is provided via windows update - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/top ... f5c49f4732
this is however ultimately irrelevant, because I don't believe windows 8 is supported
