Poison Ivy getting diseased

What did you do?
plant poison ivy seeds in all 3 bush patches and came back a few hours later to check their health and harvest them
What happened?
2/3 were dead
What did you expect to happen?
3 bushes full of berries
here's a link to the 2009 wiki page stating they won't ever get diseased and require no compost etc
