Summer Fun in 2023

This Summer's Hide and Seek will be held Sunday 30th July at 6PM Eastern time (2 hours before penguin reset)

As always, I will hide somewhere in our game area and give clues in the "2009Scape" cc to my location. The first 3 players to find me will get prizes (see below). As always, remember that only 1 account per person can collect a prize (no running an alt to attempt to get a second prize).

If you find me, Please do not announce my location in the CC or global chat until after all winners have been announced. Once all clues (there will be 10 of them) have been given out, if a winner(s) has already found me, that winner(s) may be invited to post additional clues to the CC if they feel like it

Ironman accounts are invited to participate though the reward will, of necessity, only come in the form of bragging rights and acknowledgment in the forums post of the winners. Any prizes they would have received will be passed to the next person to find me.


Expect the clues to be vague.
I will -not- be hiding in a PVP area (if that is enabled at contest time)
Some quest(s) -might- be needed to reach my location...(maybe)
A knowledge of quests and NPC dialogs may be useful (maybe)

Most of these prizes are courtesy of donations from staff to these contests. Be sure to thank them for all the tireless hours they put into helping to make this the greatest game out there!

Sorry for the delay in posting the winners for the earlier Summer Hide and Seek...to be honest I completely
forgot that I hadn't already done this!

And to top it off Szumaster3 got 99 Strength just as we were getting started! (Gratz!)

What a fast one! Ya'll managed to get it done in a record under 6 minutes!

I was hiding upstairs in the house north of Hetty ("Witch's Potion" NPC) in Rimmington.

The clues were:

Clue: "A deep subject for a shallow mind"
Answer: The well in Rimmington

Clue: "The smell of burnt meat often penetrates from below"
Answer: During Witch's Potion players often use the range below to cook meat twice to deliberately burn it for that quest.

Clue: "Anyone need a bronze scimitar? There's one nearby"
Answer: A bronze scimitar spawns on the table in this room

At this point, roughly only 4 minutes in Sully found me for 1st place!!!!!
This was followed by Player Name at roughly 4 minutes 40 seconds for 2nd place!

Clue: "After some work one can see light in the west"
Answer: The chemist's workshop west of Rimmington contains the lamp oil still to fuel a lantern giving off light.

At this point Kirayaba found me at the roughly 5 minute 45 second mark for 3rd place!!!

What a fantastic job! (And obviously I gotta find better places to hide for future events! Lol!)

(* Note these were mistakenly identified as "God cape" in an earlier post. To clarify, these are the cloaks obtained from Treasure Trails, NOT the ones from MTA! My sincerest apologies!)


Rising to the challenge the following erstwhile adventurers proved more than my equal in solving the clues to this event!

First place: Kirayaba @ 8:59 in and only 3 clues given
Second place: Sully @ 9:49 in, again with only 3 clues given
Third place: Bronze @ 11:28 in with only 5 clues given (But as an iron only gets the bragging rights!)
Fourth place: Crap appeared @ 13:39 with 7 clues in but they declined to claim the prize...so...
Fifth place (third prize): Joro appeared @ 18:38 and all 10 clues posted!

I was hiding upstairs in the house on Entrana that holds the glassblowing pipe!

The clues and explanations:

01. Some things are hot nearby
Well, furnace, hot-air balloons (though not in game yet), and firebird

02. Water plays an important part in getting to me
You have to board a ship in Port Sarim to cross the water to get here

03. Sand...
There's a sand pit near here which is used to blow glass

04. Balance is important near here
The image on the Law Altar (which is accessed from Entrana) has a set of balance scales on it.

05. That's not much maize
This was a pun. Maize is another word for "corn" and there are unicorns in the area (get it? 1 corn?)

06. The answer may be blowing in the wind
Glass blowing downstairs...

07. You can get to blue scales near here
The Law Altar entrance with the scales as mentioned in clue 4 above

08. What happened in Paris in 1783 didn't stay in Paris
For the history buffs, the first recorded human ascension via balloons took place in Paris in 1783. Entrana is the location for the Enlightened Journey quest which brings balloon transportation to the game (though not implemented yet).

09. Nice place for a peaceful vacation
No weapons or armour allowed on Entrana. It should be peaceful, right?

10. most residents are close to having tails
Lots of monks here, add a "key" and you have "Monkeys." (sorry for the dad joke but you know how I get)

Ever wanted one of those nifty Pirate Hats?
Maybe a few "extra prizes" as well?

This is an impromptu Hide and Seek, just for fun with no "huge" prizes...

So I'll be hiding somewhere in the 2009Scape world and giving clues in the
2009Scape CC to help you find me. I'll be starting the clues at 6PM, that's
a little over 2 Hours before server reset.

I was hiding in the Air Altar (where you'd craft Air runes)

dea dogs that manage to will be sharin' some worthy
prizes! Look to the forums or discord for standard rules!

1) Ye'll likely pass brigands a' plenty gettin' to me!
* Refers to the highway man at the intersection south of Fally!

2) Beware thar be caves to the south
* Refers to the Asgarnian Ice caverns to the south.

3) Thar's ways to avoid that delivery fee
* Refers to the highway man's "Stand and Deliver!" statement which can be avoided by many means...

4) He ain't Admiral Nelson but he might help ya get here
*Reference to Admiral Horatio Nelson and meaning Duke Horatio who helps you get started on Rune Mysteries
Quest which sees you get an Air Talisman which is needed to get here.

5) A pirate could change his ways to the northwest
* The Makeover mage resides to the north west of the air altar entrance.

6) Solve the mystery if yer need to get to me
* When examined the air altar entrance is mysterious...as is the quest Rune Mysteries

7) Ye' might see smooth sailing comin' from whar I'm hid
* Air is needed for smooth sailing...

A wild Ceikry mysteriously appeared! =D

8) Thar's tales of treasure to the southeast
* Redbeard Frank is to the southeast and begins Pirates Treasure quest

A shooting star level 2 just crashed near pirates' hideout mine!

9) Thar' be some that dig fer treasure in the southwest
* Refers to the Rimmington mine to the southwest

10) My eye might be found in the middle of the Ar
* Eye (letter "i") in the middle of "Ar" == "Air"

Christmas Hide and Seek

Date and time of event: December 25, 2023. Time will be the same as recent Zencro hide and seeks: 22:00 UTC, or two hours before reset.


Outline:
Two of my accounts ('Kirayaba' and 'Lazy Afker') will be hidden in places throughout the world. Initially, clues will be given by Lazy Afker at an interval of one clue every few minutes. Once at least one person has found this account, clues will start being given out for Kirayaba's location. However, for a trade with this account to be considered valid, the player must have found Lazy Afker already and wear the item given out by Lazy Afker upon being found.

Other rules:
Pretty much the same as Zencro's Hide and Seeks:
Only one account per person may claim prizes.
If an ironman account is among the placing winners, that place's prize is still available to the next person to find me.
No spoilers of any clues until the event has ended.

Other things to note:
The difficulty level of this Hide and Seek should be considered 'very hard'.
Completion of some quests MAY be required to reach me.
Exposure to some aggressive NPCs MAY be required to reach me.


Prizes:
The first three to find both hidden accounts will get their choice (in order of placing) between one of three prize sets (each option can only be chosen once, so second and third place can only get whatever is left):

Option 1: Choice of one of any tradeable rare item available (Partyhat of any color, H'ween mask of any color, Santa hat, or Christmas cracker)

Option 2: 10M cash

Option 3: Abyssal whip, Amulet of fury, Berserker ring, Dragon boots, 100 super set (4)s, 100 prayer potion (4), 2000 sharks, 2000 ruby bolt (e)


If the event continues long enough for more to reach to end, the following prize will be given to the next placers, up to 3 additional times:
Choice of either 1M cash + 500 sharks + 75 prayer potion (4)s

Anyone else at the end who participated but did not finish/place can receive an Obsidian cape + 50 sharks + 10 prayer potion (4)s as a prize, if desired.

Clues for Lazy Afker with explanations:
1. One of the most serene places in the world.
Refers to Seren, as Prifddinas is a city that exists as a manifestation of her.
2. Don't mourn if you can't figure out where I am.
Refers to the mourners, specifically the ones in the Arandar pass (though they don't currently exist in 2009scape)
3. You might need to take a boat to reach me.
Refers to the only way to initially enter the elven lands being the charter to Port Tyras
4. Nothing much to see in most directions from where I am.
Refers to the edge of the game world in 2 directions and the empty Prifddinas in another
5. Watch out for leaves on your way to me.
Refers to the traps in Isafdar
6. You'll travel through forests and over mountains before making it to me.
Refers to navigating both Isafdar and Arandar to reach the east road to Prifddinas
7. Want to see what's past the walls? You'll be waiting a very long time.
Refers to Prifddinas not being implemented until long after 2009
8. You'll see crystals to the south before you see me.
Refers to the wall of Prifddinas
9. You'll have to go further north than you'd expect to reach me
Self-explanatory
10. A mountain hike is not the end of your journey
Refers to needing to keep going after navigating Arandar to reach the area

Clues for Kirayaba with explanations:
1. Those seeking danger and fortune might find more a little to the east.
Refers to God Wars Dungeon/Wilderness
2. No need to hope for a white Christmas.
Refers to the constant snowfall
3. Cake would make a good present, if you had other business here.
Refers to giving the troll child a cake during Desert Treasure
4. There's a ways to go yet if you were looking for treasure rather than me.
Refers to the ice path to the troll parents/Kamil during Desert Treasure
5. Too cold to stay long, and the locals aren't that friendly either.
Refers to the constant cold damage and aggressive ice trolls
6. I'm stranded up here, I hope someone finds me soon.
Refers to the Stranded music track that unlocks in the area
7. A diamond in the rough? Sorry, not yet.
Refers to the Ice Diamond
8. Just another in a barrage of trials awaits beyond.
Refers to the Barrage spells in the Ancient spellbook
9. About as far as possible from a desert.
Refers to Desert Treasure, and being an icy area
10. Don't worry about the gate, it's just for show
Refers to being able to freely pass the Ice Gate, currently (it's not really implemented fully)

This year's Heart and Seek (Hide and Seek) will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 beginning
2 hours before the server resets (22:00 HRS Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) - 5 PM Eastern US).
This is to attempt to accommodate as many player's schedules as possible.


Rules:

Twelve (12) clues will be gradually given out in the 2009scape CC, beginning when the game starts.
These clues are intentionally vague and may require some unique observations made while playing the
game or being familiar with various events, items, movies, music or other elements.
If in doubt, a search engine may yield some insight on some occasions.

To win you must first find the person hosting and then trade them.

If you find the host do NOT reveal their location to anyone via any means until the game has ended.

In some circumstances the host may invite those who have already found them to offer their own clues
in the CC. This will only happen after all twelve (12) original clues have been given. Again, please
do NOT directly reveal the host's location to anyone via any means until the game has ended.

A winner may not then use an alternate account to collect a second prize.

Additional Notes: The host will not be hiding at any location currently locked behind a quest requirement
on this server. Some locations may require passage in close proximity to potentially aggressive NPCs and
some may require or benefit from payments of fares or fees to NPCs.
Please plan your equipment and supplies accordingly.


Should a winner elect to not take possession of the full prize they are due the remainder may be used to
either: supply a 4th prize -or- be carried over to the next contest to be used as prize resources at the host's
discretion.

Additional rules may be given out prior to a contest.

Ironman accounts who find the host will be acknowledged in the winners announcement for this contest.

Prizes:

There will be Three (3) prizes given out for the first three accounts eligible to receive items.
Should an Ironman account be one of those first three, the prize they would have won will be
passed down to the next winner until all three prize winners have found me.

Prizes will be awarded at a nearby bank shortly after the contest ends. Should a prize winner be
unable to wait for the conclusion due to time constraints their prize will be held until the next
more suitable time that they and we are online together.

I was hiding in the hayloft in the barn west of Lumbridge's windmill!

Here were the clues given and their answers:

* There's a bed in this loft

2 You might could help protect something with something nearby
* The hay below can be used to make a scarecrow to protect a garden patch!

3 If you have to wear a brown apron you're too far west
* The crafting guild is to the west

4 If you have to pass a swamp you're probably too far south
* Lumbridge swamp is to the south

5 If you have to pass a river you're probably too far east
* The River Lum is to the east

6 If you have to cross a ditch you're too far north
* The wilderness ditch is far to the north

7 the armour you may find below has limited value
* The goblins below drop goblin armour

8 There's limited travel options to the north
* The Gnomecopters are to the north of this location but they dont go far

9 You could travel a lot to my south west
* Port Sarim is to the southwest and offers many destinations

10 Fuel can no longer be found to the west but shows up from time to time
