Singleplayer - Enable PVP?

Hey all,
Been playing the singleplayer locally with a few friends, and we love it.
We'd like to play fightpits/duel arena our with fully maxed characters with all the fixings=)
Sadly it seems pvp was disabled due to some kind of abusive bug?

Is there a way for us, who don't care about the bug, and can't effect the live server with it, to enable pvp on our local singleplayer game?
Or, is there a version of singleplayer that still has pvp and how would I find out how to get that version?
(We did edit the worldprops PVP option from 'false' to 'true' and still was unable to attack one another)

just fight each other in the wilderness. Anywhere north of the wilderness fence (deep wilderness, 50+) will do.

Disappointing as something like dual arena/fight pits is significantly faster rounds since it doesn't lose gear, but understandable.

trying something would help.

admin accounts don't lose gear on death. everyone in SP is an admin by default. you probably haven't changed this because all your friends have maxed accounts, meaning they probably used admin commands to accomplish that
