2009scape launcher issues

Post by coldrush »

Today, I tried to install the 2009scape launcher on my Windows 10. When I tried to launch the EXE file, I got a Windows error message popped up and windows defender saying this file is unsafe. Then my antivirus pops up and says this is a malware and wants to quarantine the file. After all that, somehow the launcher loads and failed to install java 11. Then when I was trying to create account on the 2009 client says "can't connect to the server" I tried to close 2009 client and get Saradomin launcher back on. Now when I double-click on the EXE it doesn't even load at all.

This is one of many reasons why Avast (and most other antivirus software solutions) are hot garbage.
FileRepMalware literally just means that the exe/file you've attempted to load has no reputation (or is unknown to avast), or has too low of a reputation.
Simply because avast was not aware of 2009scape, it has flagged it as malware. That's terrible.

Anyway;
1.) Uninstall Avast antivirus completely. It's not doing anything for you, and Windows 10's built-in Defender is more than enough.
1.1) Restart computer.
2.) Delete, then re-download the 2009scape .exe file from the 2009scape website (https://2009scape.org/)
3.) After attempting to run the new .exe, on the Windows popup, click "allow" (or "show more options") (i dont use windows, its hard to remember what it says).
4.) Enjoy the game.

Edit:
The reason for the Windows error you're showing:
When you initially attempted to run 2009scape, Avast stepped in, and "sandboxed" some essential files for the .exe to run the game.
Windows, not knowing what just happened, assumed the .exe was broken, because it could not find these essential files.

Didn't work, still problem of loading launcher when double-clicking the EXE. I checked the task manager when I try to open up the launcher first it tried to load it, then saradomin becomes suspended and then it closes by itself.

Is Avast removed? I just tested it on a fresh install of Windows 10 and it launched without issues.

Try deleting the C:\Users\<YOUR USER>\2009scape folder and see if that fixes it (maybe the launcher got confused because Avast previously deleted some if its files)
